Sid Ramin (January 22, 1919 – July 1, 2019) was an American orchestrator, arranger, and composer, born in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied at the New England Conservatory of Music and Boston University before moving to New York City, where he continued his education at Columbia University. In New York, Ramin began arranging for Broadway shows and contributed orchestrations to several notable productions, including 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum,' 'Gypsy,' and Leonard Bernstein's 'West Side Story.' He won an Academy Award in 1962 for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture for 'West Side Story.'
