Sidney Joe Qualls was a soul singer born on March 22, 1952, in Jacknash, Aransas. He began singing in church as a child and was performing professionally by the time he finished high school. In the early 1970s, Sidney moved to Chicago, where he secured a deal with the Dakar/Brunswick label after meeting Otis Leavell. Leavell believed that Sidney was the 'next Al Green' due to their similar vocal stylings. Sidney passed away on March 4, 2019, in Chicago.
