Silicon Teens was a fictional pop group from the United Kingdom, created by the founder of Mute Records. Launched in 1980, the group was portrayed as a quartet consisting of members Darryl, Jacki, Paul, and Diane, who were actually fictional characters with their roles played by actors during media appearances. Their debut album, "Music For Parties," featured a collection of mainly old rock 'n' roll classics reinterpreted in a cheesy pop synthesizer style, along with three original compositions: "TV Playtime," "Chip 'n' Roll," and "State of Shock (Part 2)." Despite generating significant media interest as a novelty act, neither the album nor its singles, including "Memphis Tennessee" and "Judy in Disguise," achieved commercial success. However, their third double-A side single, "Just Like Eddie" b/w "Sun Flight," did find some success on the UK charts. Their rendition of "Red River Rock" was featured in the soundtrack of the film "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles," directed by John Hughes. Additionally, their version of "You Really Got Me" appeared on a compilation album of New Wave songs released by a French covers band.
