**Silver Convention Bio** Silver Convention was a vocal girl disco trio that recorded from 1974 to 1979. The group was formed by a German producer/songwriter duo and initially released "Save Me" in 1974 on Jupiter Records, featuring session singers with sparse lyrics. Early editions of the group were known as "Silver Bird Convention." The single became an early disco success in the UK under the name "Silver Convention." The original line-up included three German girls, one of whom was a former child star seeking a change of image. However, one member, Carter, was quickly replaced after just a few TV appearances. Their hit "Fly, Robin, Fly" reached #1 in the US and became a massive success in Europe. Penny McLean, a member of the group, achieved solo success with "Lady Bump," which topped the German charts concurrently. The group followed up with another hit, the title track from their second album, "Get Up And Boogie" (1976), but their success dwindled thereafter. Their concept album "Madhouse" saw American singer Thompson replace another member, yielding only a minor hit with "Everybody's Talkin' 'Bout Love." In 1977, their single "Telegram," chosen to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest, finished 8th.
