Siouxsie and the Banshees was a U.K. band formed in London in 1976, fronted by Susan Janet Ballion, known as Siouxsie, on vocals. The band featured Steven John Bailey on bass and had a rotating lineup of guitarists and drummers. Notably, the drummer from July 1977 to September 1979 left the band alongside the guitarist just hours before a concert on the 'Join Hands' Tour due to a disagreement over signing records in Aberdeen. In 1980, Peter Clarke, known as Budgie, joined as the drummer and remained until the band's disbandment. The band also saw guitarists such as John McKay (1976), Marco Pirroni (1976-1977), and others throughout its history. The multi-instrumentalist Robert Smith served as the band's full-time keyboard player from 1987 onwards. Siouxsie and the Banshees disbanded in April 1996 but reunited for The Seven Year Itch tour in 2002. In 2003, an authorized biography of the band was published.
