Sipho Mchunu, born in 1951, is a musician who originally came to Johannesburg in search of work. In 1969, he formed a friendship and musical partnership with a white boy who was fascinated by Zulu culture, leading them to perform as a duo under the name "Johnny and Sipho." They later expanded their group and created a groundbreaking band under the guidance of an unnamed figure. This band was called Juluka. Juluka disbanded in June 1985 when Mchunu returned to his roots in Zululand to herd cattle and become a livestock farmer. Despite this, he made some solo recordings, which were financed and promoted by his former partner, Johnny Clegg. In 1996, Johnny and Sipho briefly reunited to perform and tour together as Juluka, releasing the album "Ya Vuka Inkunzi," also known as "Crocodile Love," in 1997.
