Sister Rosetta Tharpe was an American gospel, blues, and jazz singer and guitarist, born on March 20, 1915, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. She was the daughter of a gospel singer and evangelist. Throughout her career, she collaborated with notable artists such as Lucky Millinder, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, the Dixie Hummingbirds, and Sammy Price before embarking on her solo career. She also worked with other gospel singers. Sister Rosetta Tharpe passed away on October 8, 1973, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
