Siw Malmkvist is a Swedish schlager singer and actress, born on 31 December 1936 in Landskrona, Skåne County, Sweden. She is the older sister of a singer and was married to an actor until his death. On 18 July 1964, she became the first Swede to have a hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Sole Sole Sole," a duet with Italian singer Umberto Marcato, which peaked at No. 58. Malmkvist gained significant popularity in Scandinavia and West Germany, achieving a #1 hit in West Germany in 1964 with "Liebeskummer lohnt sich nicht."
