Skaila Kanga is an accomplished harp player born in India. She began her musical journey by learning the piano at the age of five and later won a Junior Exhibition to the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Vivian Langrish. Her passion for the harp developed at 17 when she had the opportunity to study with Tina Bonifacio, the harpist for Sir Thomas Beecham in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Kanga started her career with the BBC Concert Orchestra and quickly established herself as a freelancer, performing with many regional and major London orchestras. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Boult, Kempe, Guilini, Monteux, Haitink, Maazel, Mehta, Barenboim, Previn, Solti, Klemperer, Svetlanov, and Rattle. During this time, she also worked extensively with Pierre Boulez in the BBC Symphony Orchestra alongside Sidonie Goossens and Maria Korchinska.
