Skip Easterling, born James "Skip" Easterling on July 1, 1945, in New Orleans, is a blue-eyed soul singer who grew up in Slidell, Louisiana. He began releasing singles in 1964 and found success primarily in the New Orleans area. His notable hit came in 1971 with a funky rendition of "Hoochie Koochie Man." At that time, his song reached #1 in New Orleans, surpassing the national hit "Mr. Big Stuff" by Jean Knight, which held the #2 position locally.
