Skip Martin was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and music arranger, born on May 14, 1916, in Robinson, Illinois, USA. He passed away on February 12, 1976, in Los Angeles, California, USA. At the age of seventeen, Martin played clarinet in the Indianapolis Symphony. With a strong love for jazz, he moved to the west coast, where he played saxophone with notable bands led by Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and Charlie Barnett. His first arranging jobs were with Count Basie. After a stint as an NBC staff member in New York, Skip relocated to Hollywood, where he contributed to several films and TV shows.
