Slack Alice is a glam rock band from London, England, formed in 1973. The band consisted of John Cook on backing vocals and keyboard, Pete Finberg on guitar and backing vocals, Mick Howard on bass and backing vocals, Eddie Leach on drums, and Alice Spring as the lead vocalist. They released one eponymous album and gained some recognition with the single "Motorcycle Dream," which became a minor international hit. Despite their early promise, Slack Alice disbanded in 1974 after a period of heavy touring. Alice Spring, originally known as Sandra Alfred, is a British singer and actress. She began her acting career with an uncredited role in the film The Belles of St Trinian's in 1954 and later appeared in various British films and television shows. In the 1960s, she adopted the stage name Sandra Barry and was signed to Decca Records, releasing the single "Really Gonna Shake" in 1964 with the backing of the band The Boys. After a stint with Pye Records and several singles that did not achieve commercial success, she re-emerged in 1973 as Alice Spring, leading the band Slack Alice. Later in the decade, she fronted the post-punk band Darling, which released an album and several singles in 1979.
