Slim Dortch, born Henry Pierce in 1921 in Tennessee, was a talented guitarist who began playing at the age of twelve. Throughout his career, he pursued various radio gigs across the country, including notable shows like the "Breakfast Time Frolic" on WJJD in Chicago and the "Saddle Mountain Roundup" in Dallas, where he collaborated with musicians such as Fiddlin' Arthur Smith and singer Ray Whitley. He gained recognition among rockabilly fans for his 1964 single "Big Boy Rock," known for its driving hillbilly soul-beat sound. Slim Dortch eventually settled in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where he passed away in 2000 at the age of 78.
