Slim Harpo was an American blues singer, songwriter, and harmonica player, recognized as a leading figure in the swamp blues style. Born on January 11, 1924, in Lobdell, Louisiana, he initially performed under the pseudonym "Harmonica Slim" at local nightclubs and bars. Slim began recording in the mid-1950s and released his first record as Slim Harpo in 1957. His notable hits include "I'm A King Bee," "I've Got Love If You Want It," "Rainin' In My Heart," "Buzzin'," "I Love The Life I Live," "Little Queen Bee," and "Baby, Scratch My Back." His music has been covered by various artists. Tragically, Slim Harpo passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on January 31, 1970, at the age of 46, and was buried in Mulatto Bend Cemetery in Port Allen, Louisiana.
