Sly & The Family Stone was formed in San Francisco, California, in November 1966. The group consisted of key members including Sly Stone (born Sylvester Stewart on March 15, 1943, in Denton, Texas; passed away on June 9, 2025), Freddie Stone (born June 5, 1946, in Vallejo, California), Cynthia Robinson (born January 12, 1946, in Sacramento, California; passed away on November 23, 2015, in Carmichael, California), Jerry Martini (born October 1, 1943, in Denver, Colorado), Larry Graham (born August 14, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas), Greg Errico (born September 1, 1946, in San Francisco, California), and Rosie Stone (born March 21, 1945, in Vallejo, California; joined the original group in January 1968). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as a performer.
