**Bio: SM Corporation** SM Corporation was formed in 1979 by Stephen Averill after leaving the punk band The Radiators from Space. Alongside Paul Wynne and Dermott Gunn, the trio performed a live soundtrack to F.W. Murnau’s 1922 classic film *Nosferatu*, which they projected from the stage. Their debut performance took place in Dublin on June 15, 1979, and they played alongside U2, Virgin Prunes, and CD Nein at Downtown Kampus in Cork later that year, where they delivered the most popular live soundtrack of the night. Initially, the band utilized two analogue synths (Kawai S100f), tape samples, and live drums to create an improvised sound. After a year, the lineup expanded to include Kathy O’Donaghue on vocals and synth, and Paula Dee on keyboards and vocals. Former Radiators bassist Mark Megaray occasionally joined as a guest. This lineup performed the original song "Waiting For The Weekend" on RTE’s flagship chat show *The Late Late Show* and backed poet Pat Ingoldsby on television. The funds from these performances and an advertising jingle allowed the band to purchase a Tascam Portastudio for recording their music. Subsequent changes saw Kathy O’Donaghue and Dermot Gunn leave the band, replaced by Tina O’Brien on vocals and later synth player Austin Rock. This lineup played various gigs, including at Trinity College and The Television
