Real Name: Smokey Joe Smokey Joe is a Breakbeat, Hardcore, Drum n Bass, and Jungle producer, remixer, and DJ from North London, UK. He co-founded a label alongside his brother. Joe began his career in sound engineering and later worked in radio, where he produced and hosted the award-winning Friday night dance show on Wear FM. He started producing music in 1992 and gained recognition in the scene with his track “Wha' Dat (Gimmie My Gun).” In 1993, he signed to a label where he recorded classics such as “Shining” and produced tracks for various artists. After contributing several tracks to the label's compilation series, he parted ways with them in 1995. Joe then produced albums for PWL and another artist before teaming up with a new label, where he produced the first five singles. Around this time, he and his brother established their own label, producing 12 of the 15 releases and remixing tracks for labels like Moving Shadow, Ganja Records, Suburban Base, and Kickin' Records. Although Smokey Joe still releases material today, his output is not as prolific as it was during the 90s era.
