Soft Riot, the musical project of British-Canadian artist JJD, originated in Vancouver, Canada, and is now based in Glasgow, UK. With decades of musical experience across various bands and projects, including a number of art-damaged punk and hardcore groups as well as the first-wave post-punk revivalists Radio Berlin, JJD has established a diverse creative background. After relocating to London in the late 2000s, Soft Riot fully emerged, resulting in over a dozen acclaimed albums and EPs over the past ten years, alongside numerous tours throughout Europe. Utilizing a range of synthesizers and effects, Soft Riot's sound is a blend of JJD’s musical experiences, featuring elements of synthesizer-based film soundtracks, romantic italo-style touches, throbbing arpeggiations, and angular, psychedelic synth-pop, all infused with an underlying tension. This soundscape guides listeners through today's fractured and excessive landscape, often laced with hints of black humor.
