Soia is a unique artist whose journey began in Taiwan and led her to Vienna, Austria, influenced by her parents' origins. Her musical style is shaped by a rich cultural clash, incorporating elements from classical music and African jazz, along with the emotional depth of Billie Holiday and the experimental edge of abstract hip hop. This diverse background allows her to blend jazzy improvisation with Nu Soul, creating a sound that is distinctly her own. While pursuing a Master's thesis in Biotechnology, Soia crossed paths with producer Mez, who is currently studying piano at the Vienna Jazz Conservatory and collaborating with artists like Raashan Ahmad. Mez is known for his quality-obsessed approach, characterized by distinctive harmonies and vibrant, organic beats. Together, Soia and Mez have released their first collaboration, "Obtaining," and are working on material for their upcoming EP, "Mood Swings," set to release in 2012. This debut EP will explore Soia's emotional landscape, featuring tracks that range from melancholic soul to uplifting tunes, always delving deeper than the surface.
