Gili Mocanu, born in 1971 in the historic city of Constanța beside the Black Sea, is a renowned Romanian painter celebrated for his unique artistic style. His work has been showcased in major galleries and museums worldwide. Influenced by avant-garde Romanian composers such as Iancu Dumitrescu, Octavian Nemescu, and Ștefan Niculescu, Gili has been actively involved in sound recording since the early 1990s. Under the names Somnoroase Păsărele and Centrul Isteric, he has developed a distinctive musical character, often collaborating with others. His music features atypical synth sounds, spectralist techniques, and non-rhythmic elements, exploring genres such as abstract electronic, minimalist, ambient, spectralist, and drone.
