Sondi Sodsai, born Sodsai Sondi Panthumkamol, was crowned Miss Thailand in 1959, which led her to the United States to compete in the 1960 Miss Universe Pageant. Although she did not win the title, she received the Miss Congeniality award and scholarship money that she used to enroll at UCLA. Majoring in drama, she quickly began her television career and became a regular on the show Adventures In Paradise. Sondi also recorded an album for Liberty Records in Hollywood titled "Sondi." Eventually, she returned to Thailand, where she became the head of Theatre/Arts at Bangkok University.
