Sonia Rosa, known in Japan as ソニア・ローザ, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born on October 17, 1949, in São Paulo, Brazil. Coming from a wealthy family, she began playing the guitar at the age of six and developed her musicality through learning songs, eventually emerging as a bossa nova singer during her teenage years. After connecting with a club owner in São Paulo, she moved to Japan and made her debut in 1970, being produced by a saxophone player and performing live with him. Rosa later met a pianist who introduced her to TV themes and commercial music, leading to the release of her seminal album in 1974. In the latter half of the 1980s, she focused on raising her children, but as her music gained renewed appreciation, she released a new album in 2006, produced by Miko DJ Taro. Her full Japanese name is ソニア・アンジェリカ・デ・カルヴァーリョ・ローザ.
