Sonny Til was born on August 18, 1928, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the first tenor vocalist of the vocal group The Orioles from 1947 to 1954. After 1954, he renamed the group to "Sonny Til and the Orioles," which included some member changes, and he continued to perform until his death on December 9, 1981, in Washington, D.C.
