**Bio: Sonora Veracruz** Sonora Veracruz is one of the best and longest-lived tropical groups in Mexico, formed in the early years of the second half of the 20th century by Toño Barcelata. The initial lineup included Toño and Ramón Barcelata on first and second trumpet, Rodrigo Barcelata on guitar and second voice, Jorge Kerber on tresillo, Chucho Mora on bongo, and Pepe Vallejo as the lead vocalist and percussionist. The group made their first recording in 1960, and subsequent works with Orfeón helped define the Barcelata family's musical style. However, due to the popularity and success they achieved, some members chose to leave, leading to a new direction for the group, which was embraced by vocalist Pepe Vallejo. Miguel Ángel González, known as "La Gallega," Arturo Vicario, Alejandro Chávez, and a pianist who had previously collaborated with the group joined this new phase. Their perseverance paid off, and once the new lineup was ready, they embarked on a successful tour of Mexico City, quickly becoming favorites among the capital's audiences. Throughout their career, Sonora Veracruz has performed extensively both within Mexico and internationally, releasing over 40 records and collaborating with notable artists such as Bienvenido Granda, Celio Gonzalez, Daniel Santos, Rolando LaSerie, and Welfo.
