Sons Of Hawaii is a musical group originally formed in 1960, led by 'ukulele virtuoso Eddie Kamae. The ensemble included notable musicians such as slack key great Gabby Pahinui, Joe Marshall on bass, and David "Feet" Rogers on steel guitar. Each member brought extensive experience in Hawaiian music as well as other genres like jazz and Latin. Kamae was recognized as one of Hawaii's top 'ukulele players, while Pahinui had a loyal fan base from over 20 years of performing in clubs across Hawaii. Marshall began his musical journey in high school, and Rogers, a merchant seaman by trade, came from a lineage of steel players. In 2009, the group was honored with a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts, and several members in various configurations of The Sons of Hawaii have received Lifetime Achievement Awards in other years.
