The Sons of the Kingdom were a musical group formed in 1974 from a collective of American singers who emigrated to Israel as part of the "Black Hebrews" movement of the 1970s. This movement saw many African Americans, influenced by the teachings of Ben Carter (who later called himself Ben Ammi), travel to Israel, often via Liberia, to establish a new Zion. Carter, a steel worker and theologian, inspired numerous individuals, including musicians and singers, to make this journey. Upon their arrival, the members of the Sons of the Kingdom received new names—Mahtsahel, Tsadekiel, Zahkahriel, and Khazriel—and began touring Israel alongside other emigrant musical groups such as the Soul Messengers, the Tonistics, and the Soul Expressions.
