Sort Sol is a Danish punk band founded in 1977, originally known as "". In 1984, they definitively adopted the name "Sort Sol." The classic lineup consisted of Steen Jørgensen (vocals), Peter Peter (guitar), Lars Top-Galia (guitar), Knud Odde (bass), and Tomas Ortved (drums). Since the mid-90s, several members have left the band, with Peter Peter departing in 1995, Knud Odde in 2001, and Lars Top-Galia in 2004. It remains uncertain whether the band still exists. Notably, singer Steen Jørgensen is missing one arm, reportedly due to his mother taking the now-banned medical drug Thalidomide during pregnancy. Sort Sol reunited in 2010, performing several gigs and releasing "The Blackest Box," a collection of all their albums re-mastered in 2011. They toured again from April to August 2013, concluding the Tivoli season that year. The band returned to the studio to record new tracks for the first time since 2002, with the first single "Whip Angeles" expected to be released in April or May. They planned to tour Denmark to promote a potential new studio album starting in April 2014.
