The Soul Brothers were a Jamaican musical group formed in August 1965, shortly after the original Skatalites disbanded. The band featured former Skatalites members Jackie Mittoo, Roland Alphonso, Johnny Moore, and Lloyd Brevitt, alongside other musicians such as Wallin Cameron on guitar and Bunny Williams on drums. The Soul Brothers operated as a collective, releasing music under their own name or that of a nominal leader, typically Jackie Mittoo or Rolando Alphonso. Over time, the lineup changed, with members like Bobby Ellis (trumpet), Bryan Atkinson (bass), Dennis Campbell (saxophone), Harry Haughton (guitar), and Joe Isaacs (drums) joining the group, while Jackie Mittoo remained a constant presence. Their music blended Ska, Jump-Up, and Soul sounds, with the track "Last Train to Skaville" marking the transition from Ska to Rocksteady, a slower, funkier variant of the genre. The introduction of electric instruments, such as Mittoo's organ and electric guitar, distinguished their sound from that of the Skatalites. In 1967, Clement Dodd took a group of musicians, including several Soul Brothers, to England, where they became known as The Soul Vendors, effectively ending the brief existence of The Soul Brothers.
