Soul II Soul, led by producer/vocalist/songwriter DJ Jazzie B, emerged as one of the most innovative dance/R&B outfits of the late '80s. The collective, which also included producer/arranger and instrumentalist Philip, formed in the late '80s and gained attention with singles like "Fairplay" and "Feel Free." Their third single, "Keep on Movin'," featuring the vocals of Caron Wheeler, reached the U.K. Top Ten in March 1989. The summer release of "Back to Life," also featuring Wheeler, became their first number 1 hit. Following the success of their debut album, Club Classics, Vol. One, Wheeler departed before the recording of their second album, Vol. 2: 1990 — A New Decade, which included vocalists Victoria Wilson-James, Lamya, Marcia Lewis, and Kym Mazelle and peaked at number one in the U.K. From 1991 to 1996, the group featured new female vocalists such as Melissa Bell, Charlotte Kelly, and Penny Ford. After reuniting in 2007 with Jazzie B and Caron Wheeler, the lineup changed when Wheeler left following their 2010 reunion tour, and Charlotte Kelly took her place as lead vocalist. In 2013, Charlotte left, and Wheeler rejoined. In December 2016, Soul II Soul released their second live album, "Origins," featuring Wheeler and Jazzie B
