**Soul Tornados Bio** Soul Tornados was a soul band that emerged from Akron, Ohio, during the 1960s and 1970s. The group consisted of brothers Bobby Heller, who played the Hammond organ, and Charles Heller, who was on drums. Initially, they recruited guitarist James Crawford, but he left the band due to the demanding practice schedule set by the Heller twins. They then brought in James 'Boots' Smith as their guitarist. In 1969, the band's talent was recognized by Ernest Burt, who signed them to release their music. They recorded their first release shortly thereafter, which came out on Magic City Recordings, a label owned by Burt. In the mid-1970s, they recorded their third release, but this recording unexpectedly escaped the Magic City vaults and ended up with Ernie Malick of another label under questionable circumstances.
