Sound Barrier is a heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1980. They are widely regarded, along with a band from Cleveland, as one of the first all African-American heavy metal bands. Notably, Sound Barrier holds the distinction of being the first African-American metal band to be signed to a major label, MCA Records.
