Real Name: Sounds of Experience Profile: Sounds of Experience was a funk/soul group from the Bronx, New York, active in the 1970s. They recorded one eponymous album under a notorious tax-dodging label. The group's name, "Sounds Of The City Experience," reflected the essence of life in the Bronx during that era, capturing the everyday hustle, sweetness, and struggle of the time. Their album embodies the sound of late-1960s US soul, early 1970s modern soul, funk, and disco. Although the album was released in limited quantities typical of the Tiger Lily label, it had the potential for greater success with a proper release. Most of the vocal duties were performed by women, but the group was primarily a well-rehearsed, mostly male band that had been together for a few years prior to the involvement of their producer. They had previously recorded under the name "Sounds Of The City," with several tracks released on 7" records included on their album.
