Special Request is an alias of Leeds-born house and techno artist Paul Woolford, known for his work in Break Beat and Speed Garage since 2012. The project is inspired by the chaotic conventions of UK pirate radio stations, aiming to capture the raw energy and diversity of the illegal airwaves that have significantly influenced Woolford throughout his career. He describes Special Request as “the ruffage, the rowdy younger brother” of his previous work as Paul Woolford. Additionally, Special Request serves as a vinyl imprint for releases under this name.
