Speedy West was an American steel guitar player and record producer, born on January 25, 1924, in Springfield, Missouri. He passed away on November 15, 2003, at the age of 79 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Speedy was the father of Gary and a grandfather. Throughout his lengthy musical career, he recorded over 6,000 songs and collaborated with many renowned artists, including Roy Rogers, The Sons of The Pioneers, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bing Crosby, Loretta Lynn, Frankie Laine, The Modernaires, Dinah Shore, and others. In recognition of his contributions to music, Speedy West was inducted into The International Steel Guitar Players Hall of Fame in 1980.
