Spinal Tap is a hard rock parody band created by Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer. The band first appeared in Reiner's TV special "The T.V. Show." They later returned for the mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap," which satirizes the hard rock and heavy metal music scene. Spinal Tap has since developed a life beyond its fictional origins, with Guest, McKean, and Shearer releasing multiple albums and singles, as well as touring and making media appearances under their fictional identities.
