Spinner Dolphins were a two-piece experimental band from Portsmouth, active from 1992 to 1995. The band consisted of David Jones, who handled vocals, guitars, and keyboards, and Pete Shaw on bass. They released two vinyl records: a 7” single titled "Ocean Ride/Limbo Dancer" in 1992 and a 12” EP called the "Spinner EP" in 1994, both under the Tubby Smollett label. Their tracks "Limbo Dancer" and "Make My Day" received airplay from the renowned DJ John Peel. Following the dissolution of Spinner Dolphins, Jones formed the band Screeper, whose debut single "Can Fever" was also frequently played by Peel. He later went on to establish Autons, whose first single "Snakes" achieved notable recognition by placing second in the Dandelion Radio ‘Festive Fifty’ in 2006, a list inspired by John Peel.
