SQÜRL is an experimental rock, country, and psychedelia band based in New York City, originally formed in 2009 for the score of Jim Jarmusch's film "The Limits Of Control." The band was created by Jim Jarmusch, Shane Stoneback, and Carter Logan, initially under the name Bad Rabbit, which reflected the slow-motion psychedelic rock’n’roll songs they developed during their scoring sessions. In 2010, they changed their name to SQÜRL. The current lineup includes Jim Jarmusch on electric guitar, resonator guitar, synthesizer, bass, effects, and vocals, and Carter Logan on electric piano, synthesizer, bass, and drums. Shane Stoneback was a former member, contributing electric guitar from 2009 to 2014. Jozef Van Wissem joined as a live member, playing the lute from 2015 to 2016. SQÜRL is known for their unique sound, which combines elements of big drums, broken guitars, cassette recorders, loops, feedback, and sad country songs, alongside influences from molten stoner core, chopped & screwed hip-hop, and imaginary movie scores. Following their initial work on "The Limits Of Control," the band continued to create original music and explore various musical styles, leading to a series of EPs recorded over three years at Treefort Recording in Brooklyn, NY.
