Stan Kenton was an American jazz bandleader and pianist, born on December 15, 1911, in Wichita, Kansas, USA. He passed away on August 25, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Kenton was married to a singer from 1955 to 1961. He played in various dance bands before forming his first orchestra, "Artistry in Rhythm," in 1941. Throughout his career, many jazz stars played in his orchestras.
