Stan Tracey was a British jazz pianist and composer, born on 30 December 1926 in Denmark Hill, London, England. He passed away on 6 December 2013 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, at the age of 86. Tracey cited significant influences in his music and served as the house pianist at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club from 1959 to 1966, where he performed with many leading American jazz musicians during their visits to London. In 1975, he founded a record label that issued his own recordings, and a successor label was established in 2007. He was honored as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and later appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. Tracey was also the father of a jazz drummer.
