Stereolab is a band that was formed in London in 1990 by a record collector born in 1964 and a French chanteuse born in 1968. The band was active from 1990 to 2009, after which they entered a ten-year hiatus. In 2019, Stereolab reunited for live performances and to promote a year-long reissue campaign of seven albums. They are set to release their first newly recorded material since 2009/10 in 2025. The band's lineup has included various members over the years. Key roles included guitar and vocals from 1990 to 2009 and from 2019 onwards, with additional vocals from 1991 and 1992 to 2002, the latter member having passed away in 2002. The bass position saw changes from 1990 to 2009 and again from 2019, while drums were played from 1990 to 1992 and then from 1992 to 2009 and 2019. Keyboards were featured in various capacities from 1993 to 2009 and 2019, with horn contributions from 2006 to 2009. One member contributed from 1993 to 1994 and continued to make occasional guest appearances on later records.
