Steve Davis, born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1967 and raised in Binghamton, New York, is a preeminent jazz trombonist celebrated for his lyrical and hard-swinging style. A protégé of Jackie McLean at the Hartt School's Jackie McLean Institute, Davis's career was launched in 1989 when McLean recommended him to Art Blakey, leading to his tenure with the Jazz Messengers.
