Steve Beresford, born in 1950 in Wellington, Shropshire, UK, is a composer, musician, and arranger known for his extensive work with various bands, including the Slits and the Melody Four. With over thirty years of experience, he has been a key figure in the British improvising scene, collaborating with notable artists such as Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, and Han Bennink. In recent years, Beresford has focused his compositional efforts on creating music for independent British film and television, producing a diverse range of sounds from strange sambas to jittery jazz and melancholy moods. He is recognized as one of the most consistently imaginative and creative musicians in Europe.
