Steve Harvey, known as "Steve The Scotsman," is a California-based producer, arranger, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist musician, born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1959. He is the son of a musician and began taking piano lessons at the age of six before becoming a drummer at ten. At sixteen, he joined his father's band, touring the nightclub circuit in Aberdeen. In the 1980s, he formed and joined various funk, soul, R&B, jazz, disco, and fusion bands while establishing himself as a songwriter. He relocated to London in 1979, where he became a session musician. In 1984, he formed another band and recorded "Something Special," which was picked up by London Records, leading to his recognition as a writer and producer. After working with Total Contrast, he began collaborating with Atlantic Records and moved to Los Angeles in 1990. As a producer, he has worked with notable artists such as Frank McComb, The Temptations, Impromp2, The Commodores, and Modern Talking. He served as a staff writer at Chrysalis Music/MCA Music Group and EMI/SBK Music for 20 years. He owned Studios 1 and 2 in Hollywood, California, until 1999, when he relocated his studio operations to Malibu, California.
