Steve Reid was an American jazz percussionist, producer, and engineer, born on January 6, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. He passed away on September 24, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Reid began releasing material in 1987 and achieved significant success as a co-founder of a popular contemporary jazz group, also appealing to pop audiences as a member of another group. He was recognized as Jazziz magazine's Percussionist Of The Year in both 1993 and 1995. During this time, he released his solo debut, the worldbeat-influenced album in 1994, followed by a second album in 1996. His subsequent works included an album in 1997, another in 1999, and finally an album in 2001.
