Steve Vai is an American guitarist, born on June 6, 1960, at Nassau County Hospital in Long Island, New York. He gained fame at the age of 18 by becoming a member of Frank Zappa's band in the early 1980s. Vai transcribed Zappa's music and sent it to his idol, which led to an audition and his subsequent inclusion in the band. Zappa recognized Vai's virtuosity, referring to him as the "Stunt Guitar Player" and "Little Italian Virtuoso" on his recordings. Since then, Vai has established himself as a multi-accredited inventive musician and an icon of guitar playing. He is also the husband of an unspecified individual.
