Stevie B is a singer, songwriter, and producer who emerged as a prominent figure in the Miami dance music scene during the late 1980s. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1958, he worked various dead-end jobs, including as a car wash attendant and fast food server, before achieving his breakthrough with the 1987 hit "Party Your Body." This song transitioned from regional success to a national club favorite and was the title track of his debut LP, which went gold, bolstered by the hit "Spring Love." In 1989, Stevie B released "In My Eyes," which included his first Top 40 hit, "I Wanna Be the One," followed by the Top 30 hit "Love Me for Life." His career peaked in 1990 with the release of "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)," which topped the charts. The accompanying album, "Love and Emotion," produced two additional Top 20 hits: "I'll Be by Your Side" and the title track. However, as alternative rock rose in popularity, Stevie B's light dance-pop sound lost mainstream appeal. He struggled to regain his previous success with later albums, including 1992's "Healing" and 1996's "Waiting for Your Love," which received little attention. A compilation album, "The Best of Stevie B," was released in 1998.
