Strawbs, also known as The Strawbs, is an English rock band founded in 1964. Initially starting as a bluegrass group, they evolved through various musical styles, including folk, folk rock, briefly glam rock, and progressive rock. Notable members included those who later joined other bands and pursued solo careers. They are best known for their hit "Part Of The Union," which reached number two in the UK charts in February 1973, and "Lay Down," which peaked at number 12 in the UK charts from the same album. Their 1974 album "Hero And Heroine" was recognized as one of the Top 50 prog records of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
