The Stray Cats are a rockabilly band formed in 1979 by guitarist and vocalist Brian Setzer, along with friends Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom, in Massapequa, New York. Their music is influenced by the sounds of Sun Records artists from the 1950s and draws heavily from Bill Haley & His Comets. Initially, the band struggled to find success in the New York music scene, prompting them to move to England, where they eventually achieved recognition during the rockabilly revival of the early 1980s. The group enjoyed several hit singles in both the U.K. and the U.S. during this period.
