Subsurfing is a collective led by English producer Greg Hunter and Japanese instrumentalist/producer OBI. Their music blends ambient atmospherics with enchanting Indian textures and innovative hi-tech dub, achieved through a combination of electronics and live instrumentation. Greg and OBI first connected in Tokyo during the recording of The Orb's "Assassin," discovering a shared musical vision. Their initial sessions at Butterfly studio in London garnered attention from notable musicians such as Kenji Jammer, Kris Weston, Charlie Hall, Steve Hillage, and Youth, some of whom contributed to their album "Frozen Ants." This collaboration, along with guest musicians Baluji and Jean, established the album as an electro-ethnic landmark in 1996.
