Suede is an English alternative rock band formed in London in 1989. The band initially centered around the collaboration of vocalist and lyricist Brett Anderson and guitarist and composer Bernard Butler. They released two albums before Butler's departure, which was marked by conflict. He was replaced by guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboardist/guitarist Neil Codling, leading to the release of three more studio albums and a well-regarded B-sides collection before the band disbanded in 2003. In 2010, the second incarnation of Suede reunited for a series of concerts, which were successful enough to prompt a permanent reunion. Since then, they have released five additional studio albums, along with multiple compilations and live albums. Due to legal action from a US-based jazz vocalist, the band is known as "The London Suede" in the United States.
